ACORPP

Workplace Profile

ACORPP is an independent consultancy, specialising in the provision of property advisory and project management services to the private, corporate and government sectors.  They have offices based in Perth and Brisbane and provide services nationally.  Their Perth office comprises of sixteen staff and operates out of Subiaco, while their Brisbane counterparts make up a team of five.

With support from Healthier Workplace WA (HWWA), including receiving a 2016 Kick-Start Grant, ACORPP has developed a comprehensive workplace health and wellbeing program for their staff. ACORPP have allocated resources to implement their program and have attended the HWWA Health and Wellbeing Coordinator training session to ensure they are implementing a range of best practice workplace health promotion strategies. 

Health and Wellbeing Achievements 

ACORPP are committed to the health and wellbeing of their staff and received Gold recognition for having provided the following:

  • A detailed action plan which outlines the health and wellbeing strategies they are going to implement over the next 12 months. Strategies target all 4 SNAP areas (smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity)
  • A dedicated workplace champion to coordinate and drive the program
  • Smoke-free workplace policy which outlines that staff are not permitted to smoke on ACORPP property during work hours or while attending ACORPP functions and events
  • Social Functions Policy which outlines how they aim to limit and manage alcohol consumption at work events and social functions. Strategies include:
    • Limiting the duration of events where alcohol is provided in order to reduce excessive drinking
    • Providing food and low/no alcohol options at events where alcohol is available
    • Holding alcohol free events throughout the year to take the focus of drinking
    • Promoting the Australian Alcohol Guidelines and informing staff that ACORPP does not encourage drinking above the recommended number of standard drinks
  • End of journey facilities including showers, changing rooms, lockers, secure bike storage, bike racks and a clothes rack to encourage physical activity and active transport before, during and after work
  • Corporate Smart Rider cards to encourage staff to catch public transport to and from work meetings and functions
  • Free six week fitness challenge to encourage staff to be more active and reduce sitting time
  • Free education session on work-life balance. This session covered the importance of healthy eating to maintain a healthy weight, as well as the importance of physical activity and how you can work it in to a busy day
  • Promoting and encouraging staff to use the standing meeting table and to host walking meetings to reduce sitting time
  • Email-free Wednesdays to break up sitting time. This initiative aims to encourage staff to get up from their desks and talk to colleagues rather than sending an email. Emails are only permitted to be sent externally
  • Free fruit and vegetable snacks for staff to access throughout the week
  • Removed biscuit jar from staff kitchen 
  • Promotion of HWWA Toolbox videos at staff meetings and distributing HWWA Health Works newsletters to all staff on a monthly basis to raise awareness on a range of health issues
