Dentons is a leading Australian law firm with a significant footprint in the Asia Pacific region. They have 47 partners and over 400 staff across their offices in Perth, Sydney and Port Moresby.
Their expertise, attitude and accessibility attract many of Australasia’s most successful and innovative organisations as well as leading multinational institutions. They have an established reputation as a leading legal service provider to clients in the banking and finance, property, and energy and resources sectors.
Healthy living is an important part of their culture. They recognise that a healthy workplace culture contributes to positive attendance and retention rates, and also creates a productive environment to deliver on client needs. They are very proud to be the first law firm in WA to be awarded a ‘Silver’ healthy workplace status from Healthier Workplace WA.
Health and Wellbeing Achievements
Dentons’ workplace health and wellbeing program has been running for six years. The program is reviewed annually to align employee interests to their health and wellbeing objectives.
Their Perth office has dedicated champions who coordinate health and wellbeing initiatives for employees, including their staff partner, human resources team and head of office. The firm provides several incentives to encourage a healthy lifestyle, including:
group exercise classes from yoga to boot camp
wellness week - a wellness activity planned every day for a week
Project Walk The Floor – encouraging staff to connect and regularly walk between different floors in their organisation to develop internal relationships
team participation in corporate events such as the City to Surf, HBF Run for a Reason and RSPCA Million Paws Walk
10,000 steps a day challenge every September
running and boxing clubs
discounted gym memberships
providing information regarding men's and women's health
healthy cooking demonstrations
active promotion of responsible alcohol consumption
discounted corporate health insurance
The impact of these initiatives has been significant. Previously amateur runners have gone on to run full marathons after joining Dentons Running Club. The healthy snacking workshop saw increased activity in their kitchens and their staff are proud to talk about their healthy workplace culture to their clients.
These initiatives are strongly supported by the partners of Dentons who encourage staff to participate in the opportunities available at the firm, to benefit as individuals both professionally and personally.
