iiNet is Australia's second largest DSL Internet Service Provider and the leading challenger in the telecommunications market. They are committed to making it simple for all Australians to connect across  their own network and the National Broadband Network (NBN). Their vision is to lead the market with services that harness the potential of the Internet and then differentiate with award-winning customer service. They have approximately 600 staff based out of their Subiaco office and employ more than 2,500 enthusiastic staff across three countries – 80 per cent of whom are employed to directly service nearly one million Australian customers.

Health and Wellbeing Achievements

iiNet are committed to the health and wellbeing of their staff and received Silver recognition for having provided the following:

  • Developing a detailed action plan which outlines the strategies they are going to implement over the next year
  • Allocating resources (financial and non-financial) to implement their program
  • Workplace Health and Safety Committee that discuss their employee health and wellbeing initiatives regularly
  • Smoke-free workplace policy which outlines that smoking is not permitted on site or in workplace vehicles. They also provide support services to employees who are looking to quit.
  • Well equipped kitchen and lunch room facilities to encourage workers to bring healthy food from home
  • Selecting their office location to be close to public transport (train and bus port)
  • Facilities that support physical activity and encourage workers to actively commute to and from work. This includes a large bike storage facility, changing rooms, showers and a towel service 
  • Sit-stand workstations that staff can access throughout the day and encouraging standing and walking meetings to break up sedentary behaviour
  • Regular reminders to take standing breaks on TV displays throughout the office and promoting the HWWA Scared Sitless toolbox video on their staff intranet
  • Range of healthy activities for staff to participate in free of charge. Activities have included a circus workshop, paintballing, trampolining, cooking challenges and participation in events such as City to Surf and HBF Run for a Reason
  • Organising workplace sporting teams including indoor soccer and mixed netball
  • Staff benefits and incentives to encourage healthy behaviours. This includes discounted gym memberships, free blood pressure checks as part of their 'Stress Down Day,' weekly fruit box deliveries and prizes such as massage vouchers and colouring in books
