What is the Recognised Healthy Workplace Program?

The Recognised Healthy Workplace program was developed in 2015 partnership with Unions WA and Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA. The Program aims to recognise workplaces in WA that are demonstrating leadership in the area of workplace health and wellbeing by providing a combination of the following strategies:

  • Supportive health and wellbeing policies and procedures (which are in addition to standard Occupational Health and Safety guidelines);
  • Facilities and infrastructure that encourage healthy behaviours; and
  • Education and awareness raising sessions that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of staff.

As part of the Recognised Healthy Workplace Program, workplaces can apply for Gold, Silver or Bronze Recognition. The level of recognition your workplace receives depends on: how long your workplace health and wellbeing program has been running for; the combination of strategies implemented; and how many SNAP topic areas your program addresses.

Once workplaces have completed their online submission, senior management will be required to validate information provided in the application before Recognition can be approved. Mandatory items for all applications to the Recognised Healthy Workplace Program include:

  • Senior Management Support
  • Staff Consultation
  • A dedicated Program Coordinator who has undertaken HWWA Coordinator Training (either online or face-to-face)

Once approved, Recognition is valid for 2 years. After this time, workplaces wishing to continue to be Recognised by the Recognised Healthy Workplace Program will be required to re-complete the application process.
