Please provide a value for Does Senior Management within your organisation support your health and wellbeing program goals, participate in the program & commit resources to the program?

Evidence shows that having support from management is key to a successful workplace health and wellbeing program. Management can commit resources to the progam to help make it a success. If management support the goals and participate In the program workers will be more likely to join In.

HWWA have a range of free tools and resources you can use to help gain management support.

Once you have management support, you can return and apply for recognition

Please provide a value for Have you identified a program coordinator (this may be yourself or someone else), who is allowed time and resources to coordinate the health and wellbeing program?

Once you have dedicated someone to coordinate the program, and allowed them time and resources, you can return to apply to become a Recognised Healthy Workplace.

Having a dedicated person to coordinate workplace health and wellbeing shows that your organisation is committed to workplace health which will contribute to the likelihood of your programs success.

Workplace health and wellbeing doesn’t have to take up all their time, and activities can be tailored depending on the time available. Take a look at how to identify a coordinator and gain support for your program

Please provide a value for Has the Program Coordinator undertaken either the HWWA online or face to face Health and Wellbeing coordinator training within the last 2 years? (Please note HWWA will cross reference this with our records).

Completion of either the HWWA online or face to face Health and Wellbeing coordinator training, by the Health and Wellbeing Program Coordinator is mandatory for all levels of RHW.

It is important that the person coordinating the program understands best practice workplace health promotion. The free HWWA Health and Wellbeing Coordinator Training covers the basics of workplace health promotion and can be completed either online or face to face.

Once the training has been completed by your Program Coordinator you can return to apply for recognition. 


Please provide a value for Have staff been consulted with to identify appropriate health and wellbeing strategies?

Consulting with staff is an essential step in the development of a successful workplace health program. It helps you to make informed decision about the direction of your program, provides valuable insights into what will and won’t work, and it creates a feeling of ownership, which assists in engaging workers.

You can also take a look at our consultation factsheet for some guidance on how to consult effectively and make your program a success.

Once consultation has been undertaken and it is used this to inform the strategies within your workplace Action Plan, you can return to apply for recognition for your program. 

Action Plan
Please provide a value for Has your organisation developed a workplace health and wellbeing Action Plan (including a program goal, objectives and strategies) and been implementing it for at least 6 months?

Developing and implementing an Action Plan is an important step in in creating a successful workplace health and wellbeing program. By developing an action plan, you will be able to document what you want to achieve, the strategies that you will use to assist you to do this, and most importantly, keep on track.

A comprehensive approach to workplace health is important. A workplace health and wellbeing program must be targeting at least one of the following risk factors, (Smoking, Unhealthy eating, Physical inactivity and/or sedentary behaviour, Alcohol) to be able to apply for recognition.
