INPEX Australia is a determined, dynamic and rapidly growing part of INPEX Corporation, a leading independent worldwide oil and gas explorer and producer.

Present in Australia since 1986, its multi-billion dollar Ichthys LNG Project connecting the Browse Basin and the Northern Territory is now turning heads.

Headquartered in Perth with offices in Darwin, INPEX Australia is active in the Timor Sea and the Carnarvon, Browse and Bonaparte basins.

INPEX’s employee health and wellbeing program was first established in 2009, gaining momentum in 2013, when a Health and Wellbeing Advisor was appointed to ensure a dedicated program and strategy.

Health & Wellbeing Achievements

INPEX’s health and wellbeing program focuses on providing a whole person health approach, which is detailed in its three year health and wellbeing strategy. INPEX received Gold recognition for having provided the following:

  • A dedicated health team with ‘Wellbeing Champions’ across the business
  • A formal champions group, which meets regularly to plan and implement program strategies throughout the year
  • A detailed calendar of health events for personnel
  • Conducting Wellbeing 360 survey and evaluating program strategies to continually improve the program
  • Alcohol related guidelines to ensure that workplace functions that are sponsored or organised by INPEX, involve a responsible approach to the service of alcohol. Strategies include:
    • ensuring the prominent availability of alcohol-free and low alcohol drinks and restricting the availability of spirits and other high alcohol content drinks
    • providing appropriate food to be consumed with drinks
    • moderating the amount of alcohol in mixed drinks
    • measuring serves of alcohol to ensure that ‘standard’ drink measures are used
    • setting clear times at which functions are to end
    • ceasing the service of alcohol at a reasonable time prior to the end of functions
  • End of trip facilities to encourage physical activity and active transport, including showers, secure bike storage, bike racks and lockers
  • Free gym memberships for all personnel to access Goodlife in Perth CBD which offers unrestricted access. Personnel can also access other Goodlife gyms for an additional subsidised annual fee
  • ‘Stand up’ meeting rooms, sit-stand workstations and regular standing and stretching breaks for encourage staff to be less sedentary throughout the day
  • An online Health and Wellbeing Hub which enables INPEX employees and family members to access information/services regarding health and wellbeing. This online hub includes health information, videos and research articles, has a monthly theme and includes specific information on team challenges and workplace activities
  • Monthly ‘Tuckerbox Talks’ on a range of health topics including healthy eating, physical activity, diet and nutrition, mindfulness, sleep and fatigue and resilience
  • Team challenges to encourage physical activity including the Get on Track Challenge and Push Up challenge during Movember
  • Subsidised entry for personnel to participate in physical activity events including City to Surf, HBF Run for a Reason, Colour Run, MS Bike Ride
  • Free activities for personnel to participate in such as healthy cooking demonstrations, tai chi classes and meditation classes
  • Healthy incentives and prizes to encourage personnel participation in activities. Prizes have included one year membership to Box & Bike and healthy food hampers
  • Free health assessments, skin checks, flu vaccinations and vision testing
