Makybe Rise Primary School is an independent public school in Baldivis, Western Australia. Makybe Rise Primary School's health and wellbeing program has been running for four years and aims to improve the lifestyle, health and productivity of all staff. In recognising the important role that the workplace plays in preventing poor health and lifestyle related diseases, the School is committed to creating a workplace environment that supports and encourages healthy lifestyles. Employees are supported and encouraged to participate in education and activities that aim to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Health and Wellbeing Achievements

Makybe Rise Primary School's health and wellbeing program aims to improve the lifestyle, health and productivity of all staff. The School implements a wide range of strategies and initiatives that encourage and enhance staff and health and wellbeing, including:

  • Comprehensive Action Plan accompanied by overarching Staff Health and Wellbeing Policy outlining the School's commitment to addressing smoking, nutrition, physical activity and alcohol in the workplace
  • Subsided fees for fitness classes and corporate fitness challenges
  • Distribution of monthly staff newsletters focusing on health and well-being
  • Provision of healthier drink and food options in staff room and school canteen
  • Comprehensive consultation with staff
  • Comprehensive online staff portal including health and wellness information, update and resources
  • Wellness Committee to contribute to the planning and coordination of heath and wellness activities
  • Provision of end of trip facilities and sit stand workstations, and promotion of active commute opportunities to staff
