Workplace Profile

Operating since 2000, R-Group International is a telecommunications and IT managed service provider who deliver a comprehensive suite of services to improve business productivity, continuity and efficiency. R-Group International is committed to providing a positive workplace environment and regards workplace health and wellbeing as an investment in the long-term health of their staff.

Health and Wellbeing Profile

The R-Group Health and Wellbeing Program has been running since 2016 and is overseen by 2 Program Coordinators. The Program Coordinators meet on a fortnightly basis and are supported by a Health and Wellbeing committee that comprises of staff from across all sectors of the workplace. 

In 2018 R-Group International was recognised as a Silver Healthy Workplace (after previously being recognised as Bronze). Congratulations R-Group International.

R-Group International’s commitment to staff health and wellbeing was kick-started by our Director’s initiative and encouragement. Staff willingness to participate got our program off the ground and enabled its success," Amy Henstock, R-Group International Health and Wellbeing Coordinator.

Planning

Following support from Senior Management, which included allocating a budget and staff time to plan and coordinate Program activities, a small Health and Wellbeing Committee was established. Committee members undertook HWWA Coordinator Training to increase their knowledge and skills in workplace health and wellbeing.

A health check of the business was undertaken by the Coordinators to better understand the current workplace environment, policies and activities.

The Health and Wellbeing Committee conducted a number of staff engagement surveys to assess staff knowledge and perspectives, barriers to healthy lifestyle choices and gaps and opportunities for the Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program. From the information gathered, an Action Plan focusing on the areas of smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity across policy, environmental factors, education and activities were developed.


Health and Wellbeing Program Activities

  • Workplace health and wellbeing policies
  • Lunchtime yoga
  • Walking groups
  • Sit-stand desks
  • Organising social events that focus on active options including rock climbing, lawn bowls, golf and hiking.
  • Providing at least 50% healthy food at all catered events
  • Provisions of healthy breakfast options for staff
  • Providing end of trip facilities, including free shower gel and shampoo, to encourage staff to actively commute/exercise.


Goals for the future

  • Removing designated smoking areas
  • Providing sit-stand desks for each staff member
  • Transitioning to become a Gold Recognised Healthy Workplace
