Workplace Profile

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is one of four local governments that make up the Kimberley region, with the shire itself directly employing over 100 staff covering the following directorates; Office of the Chief Executive Officer, Corporate Services, Infrastructure and Planning, and Community Development.

Health and Wellbeing Profile

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley's Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program has been running for nearly 6 years and is coordinated by the Human Resources team. In May 2019, the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley became a Bronze Recognised Healthy Workplace.

Following support for the development and expansion of the Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program from Executive Management, the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley appointed a dedicated Safety and Wellbeing Officer to plan and coordinate wellbeing related activities; who had successfully completed the online HWWA Coordinator Training. To gain support for the program from both Executive Management and employees, the shire established a business case and carried out face to face and electronic consultation with all staff across the shire.

In addition, a review of shire workplace procedures and past activities was undertaken. Results from this review, in combination with staff consultation, were used to guide the development of a new and improved Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program.
