VenuesWest is Western Australia's provider of premier sports, recreation and entertainment venues. They own and operate the following venues: HBF Stadium, HBF Arena, WA Athletics Stadium, nib Stadium, Midvale SpeedDome and Champion Lakes Regatta Centre.  

VenuesWest aims to build and maintain a workplace environment and culture that supports healthy lifestyle choices. 

Health and Wellbeing Achievements

Their Corporate Health and Wellbeing program, ‘Our Health’ was launched in July 2015 and provides a range of initiatives for workers to participate in that supports their health and wellbeing. 

VenuesWest has a comprehensive program in place and maintained Gold recognition since 2016 for having provided the following: 

  • Comprehensive Wellness (Action) Plan and Calendar outlining proposed health and well-being activities for the next 12 months 
  • Health and Well-being Policy which outlines the initiatives offered to staff and how they can access them
  • Smoke-free workplace policy which outlines that smoking is not permitted on site, in VenuesWest vehicles or in staff uniform
  • Workplace functions and responsible service of alcohol guidelines which outline how they aim to limit and manage alcohol consumption at work functions and social functions. Strategies include limiting the number of alcoholic drinks per person, setting a reasonable finishing time to avoid excessive drinking, organising events at times that alcohol is not expected and providing food, water and low alcohol options where alcohol is being served
  • Flexible working arrangements to support and encourage work/life balance
  • Dedicated Risk, Safety and Well-being team to implement their program, as well as health and well-being standing agenda item for Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • End of trip facilities including bike racks, showers and lockers to encourage physical activity before, during and after work
  • Personalised health and fitness services with skin fold tests, BMI tests and personalised gym programs including reduced rate PT sessions
  • Healthy benefits for staff such as subsidised registration fees to community physical activity events, free or discounted gym memberships, corporate health discounts from associated health care providers and free flu vaccinations 
  • Sit stand workstations and walking groups to encourage staff to be less sedentary throughout the day 
  • Staff intranet page promoting their Health and Well-being Program and useful resources
