Since developing the world’s first public transport smartcard system in Darwin in 1987, Vix Technology has been a leading provider and integrator of smart booking, ticketing, payments, real-time information and data management solutions for large-scale transport networks in more than 200 regions around the world, including Hong Kong’s Octopus, Cape Town’s MyCiTi, Bangkok’s Rabbit and Utah’s FAREPAY.

Vix’s Perth team, along with our 15 other global offices, are harnessing the latest emerging technologies. We now work with major sporting clubs, mining communities and event venues to boost engagement, save resources and enable powerful data-driven loyalty and reward schemes through simple solutions that achieve measurable growth and increase customer satisfaction. And, wellness and workplace health promotion technology offering reward schemes for healthy option choices in dining rooms and vending machines.

Health and Wellbeing Achievements

Vix Technology’s Perth office is committed to creating a healthy workplace for all staff. Vix Technology has been working with Healthier Workplace WA since October 2013 to achieve this goal.

By consulting with staff throughout the whole planning process, Vix Technology has been able to create a health and wellbeing program that reflects the needs of their 90+ staff members. Ongoing consultation with staff ensures that the Vix Wellness Program continues to grow and is promoted throughout the Perth office.

Vix Technology provides a range of health promoting initiatives across the four SNAP areas – Smoking, Nutrition, Alcohol and Physical Activity - to encourage their workforce to adopt healthy behaviours. Such initiatives include:

  • End of journey facilities, including free bike cages, daily lockers, drying rooms, ironing facilities, showers and a towel service
  • Incentives to encourage healthy lifestyles including Rebel Sport vouchers, boxing gloves, hook and jab mitts and Hoyts cinema tickets
  • Smoke free policy
  • Free fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Free flu shots
  • Free weekly massages
  • Working with the Healthy Choices Healthy Futures Program to increase the supply and sale of healthier food and drink choices available to workers in the staff vending machine
  • Discounted gym registrations
  • Stretch/yoga classes
  • Participating in the Get on Track Challenge, the Corporate Challenge (lunchtime legends games) and 10,000 Step Challenge (provided with pedometers from HWWA)
  • Looking into starting up a mixed Netball team
  • Participating in the TravelSmart Workplace Program, which has resulted in almost all employees now using public transit and an increase in bike use
  • Various education seminars and presentations, including Diabetes WA’s My Healthy Balance and HealthSmart Solutions programs
  • Free yearly baseline health assessments
  • QHSE Update in the quarterly staff newsletter
  • Intranet educational postings on a wide range of health topics
  • Providing resources that promote healthy living, including the ‘LiveLighter Christmas’ fact sheet,  ‘Australian Guide to Healthy Eating’ fridge magnets and developing their own resource titled ‘More reasons to eat veggies’.
