Workplace Profile

Perth Diabetes Care is a patient centred, multidisciplinary clinic providing services for people living with all types of diabetes and chronic conditions. Perth Diabetes Care empowers and engages with clients to make them confident in their ability to maintain their health. They provide education to improve the understanding of diabetes and other chronic conditions by building the capacity and skills of their clients, enabling them to better manage their journey to better health.

Health and Wellbeing Profile

Perth Diabetes Care's Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program has been running since late 2018 and is coordinated by the Human Resources team. 


Following support for the implementation of a workplace health and wellbeing program from Senior Management, Perth Diabetes Care appointed a Wellbeing Coordinator to plan and oversee activities. The Health and Wellbeing Coordinator completed the HWWA Coordinator Training (online and face-to-face). Staff consultation and engagement was used to develop the workplace's health and wellbeing related policies and action plan.

"When planning for our Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program, the HWWA Coordinator Training enabled us to analyse what changes needed to be made in our workplace," says Monica Pontel, Human Resources Officer. 

Health and Wellbeing Program Activities

Perth Diabetes Care's Workplace Health and Wellbeing Program encompass a range of different strategies. Examples of activities implemented and key achievements include: 

  • Dedicated Program Coordinator to oversee and implement program activities
  • Promotion of weekly healthy recipes
  • Sit-stand work stations to reduce sedentary behaviour 
  • Physical activity-related events including morning fitness classes
